Call for Papers: The Seventh Edition of Dying and Death in 18th-21st Century Europe, International Conference (ABDD07) - Alba Iulia Romania



On behalf of the Scientific and Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite you to attend at the seventh edition of Dying and Death in 18th-21st Century Europe, International Conference (ABBDD07) to be held between 4th and 6th September 2014 at “1 Decembrie 1918” University of Alba Iulia, Romania.
ABDD is a traditional scientific event organized in every year in Alba Iulia and one of the main important  European conferences on dying and death. This edition conference is also a preparatory one for the main scientific event on death and dying of 2015: DDD12 (Death, Dying and the Disposal of the Body Conference “Eastern and Western Ways of Dying and Death”) hosted by “1 Decembrie 1918″ University of Alba Iulia (2nd to 5th of September 2015).

The main aim of this conference is to bring together anthropologists, historians, sociologists, psychologists, and physicians from all over the Europe and other countries and to attract original papers on topics including, but not limited to the following areas:
1. Humanistic Perspectives on Dying and Death (integrating in an interdisciplinary manner history, anthropology, art, philosophy, music, sociology);
2. New ritualisations of death in the 21st century;
3. Bereavement in post-modern society; End of life and palliative care;
4. Suicide, euthanasia and the law;
6. Bodily disposal: burial/ cremation;
7. Religion and the meaning of death.

The costs of accommodation will be covered by the organizers (meals, hotel accommodation, official reception), except for the travel expenses that will have to be covered by the participants themselves.
The participation requires the payment of a 35 € per each accepted paper.
