Call for papers: Workshop „Cultură şi religii în spaţiul Carpato-Balcanic. Istorie şi actualitate”

Transformările sociale şi politice semnificative care au avut loc in Bulgaria şi România în decursul ultimelor două decenii au afectat semnificativ atitudinea religioasa a popoarelor român şi bulgar. Pentru a înţelege mai bine care ar fi consecinţele acestor modificări, avem nevoie de o imagine aprofundată asupra relaţiilor fundamentale dintre religie şi instituţia ei – Biserica- şi diverse domenii ale vieţii: puterea politică, viaţa socială, economia, cultura. Cercetarea noastră se concentrează asupra încercării de a dezvălui relaţia strânsă dintre religie şi cultură şi modul în care cultura a reflectat atitudinile religioase. Care erau realţiide dintre elitele culturale şi Bisericile creştine, în special cea Ortodoxă? Cum a fost percepută religia de către elitele culturale în cele două ţări? Si ce rol cultural a jucat Biserica în procesul de creare a unei elite culturale?

Trebuie totodată să avem în vedere faptul că în ţările noastre, toate cele trei monoteisme cât şi confesiunile creştine majore şi-au avut reprezentanţii lor de- alungul istoriei. Cum au reuşit aceste atitudini religioase variate să trăiască împreună sau, dimpotrivă, ce le-a făcut să se duşmănească? Si care a fost contribuţia lor la viaţa culturală a celor două ţări?

Un alt aspect relevant în această regiune a fost şi încă este atitudinea religioasă din spaţiul rural care include şi o serie de valori şi tradiţii precreştine.

Având în vedere asemenea aspecte ale istoriei religioase a ţărilor noastre, putem încerca să obţinem un răspuns care să ne fie util în înţelegerea noilor provocări ale societăţii noastre contemporane. Care este poziţia actuală a diverselor comunităţi religioase din societatea noastră şi care sunt consecinţele procesului de globalizare? Se poate vorbi de o anume manipulare a credinţelor religioase de către diverse instituţii politice şi sociale acutale? Este oare posibil ca Biserica însăşi să îşi folosească autoritatea într-o manieră deviantă?

Acestea sunt întrebări la care workshop-ul Cultură şi religii în spaţiul Carpato-Balcanic. Istorie şi actualitate, îşi propune să obţină răspunsuri pertinente.

Vă rugăm să ne trimiteţi propunerile dumneavoastră (titlu şi rezumat de 200-300 de cuvinte) până la data de 20 aprilie 2012 la adresa: workshop_religion@institutuldefilosofie.ro. Programul va fi postat pe data de 12 mai 2012. Evenimentul va avea loc în perioada 25-26 mai, 2012, la Facultatea de Filosofie, Universitatea din Bucureşti

    Acest workshop face parte dintr-un proiect bilateral de cercetare de trei ani între Academia Română (Institutul de Filosofie şi Psihologie şi Universitatea din Bucureşti, Facultatea de Filosofie) şi Academia Bulgară (Institutul pentru Studiul Societăţilor şi al Cunoaşterii).

     The dramatic political and social changes that took place in Bulgaria and Romania during the last two decades affected significantly the religious attitude of Romanian and Bulgarian peoples. In order to better understand which could be the consequences of these changes, we need to get a deeper vision on the fundamental relations between religion and its institution – the Church – and various domains of life: political power, social life, economy and culture. Our research is centered on revealing especially the strong connection between religion and culture and how cultural life reflected the religious attitudes. Which were the relations between the Romanian and Bulgarian intelligentsia and the Christian Churches, especially the Orthodox one? How was religion perceived by the cultural elites in these two countries? And what cultural role did play the Church in the process of creating a cultivated society? We have to take also into consideration that in our countries, all the three monotheisms and the fundamental Christian confessions used to have their believers since many centuries ago. How did this variety of religious attitudes succeeded in living together or, on the contrary, what made them become enemies? And what were their contributions to the cultural life of the two countries?

Another relevant aspect of this region was and still is the rural religious attitude which includes and keeps active pre-Christian values and traditions.

Taking into consideration such aspects of the religious history of our countries, we could try to get answers that could be useful in understanding the new challenges of our contemporary society. Which is now the position of different religious communities in our societies and which are the consequences of the contemporary globalization process? Could one speak about certain misuse of religious believes by various social and political institutions? Is it also possible that religions themselves misuse their power in our countries?

These are questions to which our workshop Culture and Religions in the Carpato-Balkanic region. History and Actuality will try to get pertinent answers.
